Family portrait at McKay lake

I’ve known Melissa and Joe for a few years but this was the first time I got a chance to photograph them. Malissa suggested that we meet at the local favorite spot McKay lake in Broomfield Colorado, and it’s a beautiful spot; I particularly like the tall grasses, big shade trees which are all valuable to the the composition of a portrait. Pre-teens are generally pretty fun no matter the camera so to break the ice with them was easy it’s why we started with individual portraits, and it worked. They even started to hint some of their own ideas which are always welcome. Next we added parents into the mix and it was all fun from there, the sun was just right and we managed to capture the whole family in addition to navigating around many of the photographers that were there with their clients. I really enjoyed getting to know this family further and had fun documenting this time in their life.

We are so pleased with our family session! Krzysztof made our teenage and pre-teen girls feel comfortable and relaxed, and the pictures capture their natural beauty and unique personalities. He was patient and creative while also accommodating our personal requests during the session. We treasure these photos!

Melissa and Joe.
